"My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine." --Proverbs 23:15.
Perhaps one of the biggest desires of a father is to see his children succeed. While my son is still less than a year old, I'm already hoping that he will grow to be a young man who loves God and does well in His eyes, even if I don't fully understand it. I know that God has much planned for him, but I know the pressure is on me to help raise him to be wise enough to see that God's will is better than his own. Without God, I know this is impossible, but with Him, I know that this can be achieved. This passage can be seen from the child's standpoint, however. The pressure then becomes to remain wise after leaving the house, not just to please his earthly father, but his Heavenly Father as well. I know personally that I have done my best to be wise, but also know that there have been times where I've blown it. I know that God has forgiven these things, and now I'm doing my best to please Him. So, I guess my point is: do you care if God rejoices in your life? And, if so, does He?
