"Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. 15What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?" --Job 21:14-15.
This passage is speaking of those who reject God, and these verses show some of the excuses they make. They try to act as if God is unimportant--that He cannot do anything for them. And, you know what? He won't. Not as long as they continue to reject Him. It is only when we accept God fully and follow Him because we want to please Him (not because of what we can get) that He will truly work in our lives. It is easy to ask God, "Well, what are You going to do for me if I decide to do Your will?" But think about it for a minute. He has already given us everything: eternal life! Anything else He decides to do is just gravy, but we just get so greedy of Him. You want to see God's working in your life? Stop asking what He'll do for you. Ask Him what you can do for Him.
