"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." -Isaiah 40:31, KJV.
Many times when reading this verse, we think that we must simply wait for God to do His thing, and that we will not get tired of waiting. However, the verse says: "they that wait UPON the Lord..." Waiting for something requires little or no effort; however, waiting on Someone is work. The reason servers are called waiters or waitresses is because their job is to wait on, or serve, the customer. So, you see, this verse is telling us that we need to be serving God to renew our strength, not sitting on our hands. God will fulfill His promises. We need to just trust Him and continue to serve, regardless of what we see or feel.
