How Can You Go to Heaven?

  1. First, you must recognize that you are a sinner. The Bible says in Romans 3:9-10, 23 that no one is perfect, and every human on earth has sinned. In James 2:10, the Bible tells us that if we even mess up once in one area, we are just as guilty as someone who wallows in sin. Every man is guilty in God's eyes, because God is holy.
  2. Second, you must recognize that there is a price for sin: an eternity separated from God in hell. Romans 6:23a tells us that the wages [payment] of sin is death. Because of our sin we are destined to spend eternity in hell–eternally separated from a holy, just, and pure God because of our sinful ways.
  3. Third, you must recognize that God has already taken care of this price through His Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 states that Christ gave Himself while we were still sinners so we wouldn't have to go to hell. He did this out of His love for us (John 3:16). This is His free gift to us according to Romans 6:23b and Ephesians 2:8-9. There is nothing we can do to get this for ourselves. It is simply a free gift.
  4. Finally, you must believe all this and accept Him verbally. Romans 10:9-10, 13 gives us the truth that it is not specific words that must be said, but a belief which must occur. You must place your faith and trust in Christ, and call out to Him, and ask Him to save you. If you do this, He has promised a home in heaven for you (and anyone else who has done and will do this). He is "not willing that any should perish" (2 Peter 3:9). He doesn't want us to go to hell, which is why He sent His Son for us. Will you accept Him today, or choose to reject Him for possibly the last time, and discover one day that you have been separated from Him for eternity?
