"But whoso hearkeneth unto me [wisdom] shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil." -Proverbs 1:33, KJV
It is amazing how available wisdom is according to the Bible, yet how few use or take advantage of it. It is literally crying out to us trying to get us to listen (Pro. 1, 8). God tells us that if we want wisdom, all we have to do is ask! (James 1:5) If we follow the instructions of wisdom, we will live in safety and not even have to listen to the fear of evil.
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." -James 1:5, KJV
Just curious. In your commentary, why did you choose to use "it" instead of "her" when you spoke of wisdom?
ReplyDeleteSimply because the only reason "her" is used in the Proverbs text is that in Hebrew "wisdom" is a feminine noun. In English, we would just normally say "it" as our nouns are neuter by default. Just a result of thinking in English, not Hebrew. :)
