"Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly." -Proverbs 15:21, KJV.
I had a youth pastor that made the saying, "Sin makes you stupid" famous in our Christian school. To this day, I have not found a better summation of what sin does to a person. When we are living in sin, we do things that are illogical, weird, and just plain stupid. However, when we follow the Bible, we live an orderly, simple life that does follow logic (despite what the world says--wisdom does not make sense to the foolish after all). Simply put, the Bible makes us smart. Look at history. Most of the great inventors or discoverers in science, mathematics, and other areas are/were Christians. Yes, some secular people did contribute to these fields, but most who made giant strides were Christians (or at least believed in God), living in a Christian society, or were following the work of a Christian. A quick example: Isaac Newton did much to advance science, especially in the areas of gravity and motion, and to advance mathematics, especially his invention of calculus. He was a Christian. When you start from the Bible (a very orderly, mathematical book--I use mathematical in the sense of logical though it does contain many numbers), you will get a very orderly, logical (mathematical) thinking process. If you put garbage into your brain that has no logic, you will get no logic from your actions (as programmers like to say, "Garbage in, garbage out"). Your walk is a direct reflection of your focus and study on the Word of God. How's it looking?
Well said.
