"And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him." -Luke 5:13, KJV.
Leprosy was a dreaded disease, most easily transmitted through touch. Those who were lepers had to live alone to avoid the spread. The reason why this disease was so dreaded was that there was no cure. This man, full of leprosy (as described in v. 12), simply asks Jesus to make him clean. Jesus reached out and touched him. The man had to be shocked as this was probably the first human contact he had in years. Jesus completely ignored his disease, reaching out and touching him to heal him. But as He touched him, the man's leprosy was removed.
We all have a dreaded disease, which, without Christ, has no cure: sin. You see, we are born full of sin, and there is nothing that we can do to rid ourselves of it. No doctor can cure it, no one can treat it, and everybody is born with it. It makes us selfish, closed off to the rest of the world. But then Jesus came down, and died for us, removing the consequence (an eternity in hell) of sin. All we have to do is ask Him, and He will make us clean. One day, as those who have trusted Him die, Jesus will touch each one of us, completely removing our disease: sin. This will leave us without pain, suffering, and tears for all of eternity and allow us to finally get close to one another selflessly.
If you have not heard about this cure before, there is a link at the top of the page simply titled, "How Can You Go to Heaven." Simply read through it, and it will explain many of your questions. The only one who can make a decision about your eternity is you. I cannot, God will not, it must be your choice. All you must do is acknowledge that you are a sinner before an Almighty, Holy God, and that you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God Who died for your sins, paying the price so you don't have to. God doesn't require much of us, just a choice. So what's stopping you from choosing Him today?
