"And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God: And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee." -Genesis 28:20-22, KJVJacob has just seen the dream of the ladder reaching from heaven to earth at Bethel. God promises to stay with him, and Jacob makes this vow. You see, God is always God, no matter what we think or do. But if He is our God, then we will strive to serve Him and He can actually use and bless us. Romans 12:1-2 tells us that giving ourselves to Him is our reasonable service--it is just what we should do. But to so many of us, God is simply God--He isn't our God. Will you make Him your God today?
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. -1 Corinthians 3:11
