Focus on the three words: "thou defendest them." God defends us! We have no defense without Him! He makes us free to worship Him, because He fights for us. This thought should make us so joyful--the Almighty God, the amazing Creator of the universe, fights for you. Have you ever seen a cheesy defense lawyer commercial? Usually then end with something along the lines of "I'll fight for you." While God is not a cheesy lawyer, He makes the same promise (& doesn't demand payment afterwards). God wants us to succeed, we just have to let Him work.
