"As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us." -Psalms 103:12, KJV.
I love this verse simply because by a simple analysis, we can actually get the picture of how far the Lord has removed our sin from us. You see, if you travel east on the globe, no matter how many times you may circumnavigate the world, you will still be travelling east. The only way to go west is to turn around (which is what the Christian life is supposed to be--the opposite direction of sin). This works both ways with east and west alike. However, notice the verse doesn't say as far as the north is from the south. If you were to travel north, you would eventually reach the north pole, and if you kept travelling, you would head south. Same thing happens (but in reverse) at the south pole. North and South have two "meeting places," but East & West do not. Praise God that he has removed our sin so far from us (from the punishment for now, and from the presence in heaven) that we don't even have to worry about running into it again in eternity.
