"Everyone that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished." -Proverbs 16:5, KJV.

Even though people may join together to further their own causes or their own agenda ("their own" referring to not God's), God will still see them as an abomination, and He will punish them. It is beyond arrogant to think that we can get through this life on our own, with no input from God Almighty. Even if those seeking their own way join together, God is still stronger than them all.
