The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.      --Psalm 12:6-7, KJV
God took time to figure out which words He wanted in the Bible. He made sure that each word was absolutely perfect for any particular passage. He guarantees to preserve it and keep it from destruction throughout all ages. Yet, there is still a controversy over versions of the Bible. What many do not know is that most modern translations are translated from an intentionally corrupted NT Greek text. However, the King James Version was translated from the Textus Receptus, the Greek text accepted by the church for centuries and carefully preserved by the church. This is just weird! God promised that He would preserve His Word, so why are most Christians running around between versions trying to figure out what God says? He told us once, but we just weren't happy. Instead of dumbing down the Bible for us, why don't we learn more to come up to the Bible? That's the end goal anyway.
More information on the different versions of the Bible can be found in David Sorenson's book Touch Not the Unclean Thing. The book is a little dry, but very well documented and researched.
