In order to hope to even begin to have wisdom, we must fear God. If we do not, then nothing else we do will be "smart." God tells us here that the fear of Him is the beginning of wisdom. We are to have knowledge of the holy in order to have understanding of anything in this world. For example, a Christian cannot believe creation if he does not know how God created the world! To believe evolution is not wise as it does not fear God. There are so many evidences pointing to God's literal six-day creation, and to ignore them is simply foolish (more info at the site listed below). God wants us to learn of Him first as He knows everything we want to learn!
